So apparently the women’s group I will be counseling/working with only meets three times a week, so the other two weekdays I will be teaching children English at an after school program in Urabamba. I am so excited about this opportunity – interaction with women and children? Hell yes.
I hear conversing/playing with kids can greatly improve language skills – hopefully they will be patient with my Spanish. Or at least it will inspire a few laughs. I don’t know if their after-school program already has a curriculum, but I am hoping to utilize TPRS (Teaching Proficiency Through Reading and StoryTelling) methods that the THS fraus used to teach German. Incredibly effective even for high schoolers, I can only imagine TPRS will work wonders for these kids. Sooo excited.

Your summer just keeps getting better, doesn’t it? I’m very glad to know, and I’m sure the kids will teach you a lot of Spanish!

The TPR system sure as hell worked. I don’t think Andy will ever forget the word for car headlights.
